(1) The work to be done by the Commission shall be as specified in the notification regarding the formation of the Commission.
(2) Within the period specified in the notification regarding the formation of the commission, the commission shall complete the investigation and submit a report with its opinion to the government of Nepal or the state government that constituted such commission.

(2A) To submit the report within the period specified in the notification regarding the formation of the commission If the commission requests to extend the opening period due to non-availability, the required period may be extended.
(3) The Commission shall have all the same rights as the courts in accordance with the prevailing Nepalese laws in the following matters:-
(a) to produce a statement of any person before the Commission,
(b) ordering any person to produce any document,
(c) understanding the evidence, and
(d) To extract any document or a copy thereof from any government or public office or court.

(4) According to sub-section (3) to make any person appear, to produce any document or to take any evidence as the Commission deems appropriate. (5) In addition to the powers mentioned in sub-section (3), the Commission may also exercise the following powers as required. (a) If the Commission has reason to believe that any item or document related to the subject of investigation is with a person or in a particular place, it may search such person or place under prevailing Nepalese laws or cause a gazetted officer to search such person or place and if found, such Seizing or causing to be seized an object or document or taking or causing to be taken a copy of such document in whole or in part, and
(b) Exercising other rights according to prevailing Nepal laws related to the exercise of rights mentioned in clause (a) and sub-section (3).
